The Importance of Data Backup

For most people the most valuable part of a computer isn’t the CPU or the monitor you are looking at right now.  No the true value lies in all that data stored inside the computer.

Think of everything you have on your computer.  Pictures of friends and family, financial and tax data, music, videos, work documents, and anything else you have created.  It could all be in jeopardy if the proper precautions aren’t taken.

One of the most common parts of a computer that I see go bad is the hard drive.  The reason for this is that most hard drives have mechanical element to them.
They have several disks inside them that rotate at a very high rate of speed, usually anywhere between 5,400 RPM and 10,000RPM.  There are also small metal heads that move across the disks to read the data.  After time they will eventually fail and cause the loss of your data.

The solution to this is to come up with a plan to backup your data at regular intervals.  It’s not a hard thing to do and you can choose several options depending upon your needs and budget.
